I think having a CR meme go up once a month could be really nice. There’s the ooc intro, but something for established players bringing in new characters or just looking to plot more!

Is there something in particular you would like to see on a CR meme? We're aware that the playerbase plots very robustly on plurk, and would like a CR meme to address issues and fill needs that may not be adequately addressed through such discussions.

I could be missing things, but I feel like plotting on Plurk - as a general rule in all RP games - is largely done in open-ended "Plot with me?" Plurks, and via responses to linked posts. So the main thing I'd like to see, personally, is being able to explain particular CR and/or plot developments one is looking for.

Hello mods! I'm about to ask about some shenanigans for next month (July).

Yuugi and Webby, being the wonderful but stupid children they are, decided to try and see if there was a spell/magic that could turn them into other species - like Webby becoming human, Yuugi turning into a Disney Duck, etc. (Why, you ask? Why not, they reply.)

But that's not what I'd like to happen. What we both agree would be much funnier is that Bodyswap nonsense occurs - which is where you come in. It would basically be a mini-player-plot, with an open log (and only the log, to keep things contained), where the bungled disaster of a spell winds up affecting anyone who wants to play in the log. Barring NPCs and such, characters could wind up switched with anyone, even familiars, and perhaps it could happen multiple times because we're terrible people. The timespan of the log would be about 1-3 days, so it doesn't take up too much time in the month, allowing adventures and other events to go on smoothly without interruption. Players would only be allowed to have their characters swap bodies if they have the consent of the other character's player OOCly, to avoid any unnecessary drama.

I think I covered just about everything, so! Basically I'm asking permission for this horseplay! But if it's a nay, I understand, and no harm no ~~fowl~~ foul.

Reserves say they open on 7/17 but currently say closed.
Apps say they close 7/3 but currently say open.
Its 7/21 rn.

I was just wondering, if I put in an app or reserve in...say...1-3days, which I should be doing: app or reserve? The app is almost done, but if apps are actually closed, I'm fully willing to wait. But no sense in reserving and waiting if I can just go ahead and app, right?

Our apologies! Because of the length of July and the number of people on hiatus, slow, or otherwise out of RP for the summer (including some of us!), we ultimately elected to push the test drive, reserve, and application openings back one month. We've fixed the incorrect information on those pages. Thank you for bringing them to our attention.

Reserves will open this Wednesday, 7/24. Applications will open 7/31. We look forward to seeing you!

Totally get it, especially since I was traveling as of sending that message, too. But ok, cool. A week's wait on the app will give me time to get the journal in order.

The ducks are wrecking stuff again.

Webby and Dewey would like to try and create a TV. How are they going to do this? Their brilliant idea is to make a box, then create a Sundering spell inside to pull channels from all the different worlds that people in Anastara are from. Then everyone can watch the shows they miss and introduce them to their friends!

With the holidays coming up, that means Winter Break! So there's background stuff like select numbers of students going home to their families for Not-Christmas, the Headmaster spreading Christmas cheer everywhere, etc.

Spyro has his own winter traditions to add to the pot ~~that I haven't entirely fleshed out since it's headcanon formed from the GBA games~~ from his side of dragon culture that he'd like to share with Ire and his fellow homesick Sundered.

Let us all give thanks to the magical fireflies that gave dragons an eternal flame that warm them through the cold winter nights! We can celebrate with a big bonfire and smoked meats!

There are not enough things here with the potential to go wrong. So I have some thoughts:

Spyro decides that maybe Ire would feel less lonely and isolated if somehow Spyro could utilize Fantastics with the intent to conjure up a species swapping spell. So with permission, success means Ire becomes the bipedal more human-sized dragon and suddenly Spyro is pure magic in a dragon-shaped bag.

Or maybe that works not quite as intended, maybe they're still similar enough as dragons that one or both of them become a boring human. Or everyone else can temporarily become awesome dragons if they really want to?

Or the ghost dragon appears to ruin the winter happiness like a big fat jerk.

Or magic fireflies really do exist and they're either not happy or not sentient enough to be friendly.

...

Or a combination of any these things. ~~Or all of the above.~~

So Mal and Beetlejuice have a bit of an ongoing war that is leftover from past CR (She remembers him from the last world, but as he is pure canon he does not remember him. This has not stopped him from stooping to her level, of course...)

The Beej player and I were chatting on Plurk and I had an idea that we discussed and both like.

Basically Mal and BJ, both from musical canons that tend to big song and dance number, but not realizing that about each other, draw on memories of home to form a curse for the other. Their curses collide and... well they're still both new to the local magic and shenanigans...

One of them curses the other to sing with everyone they encounter. The intent is to cause them to echo the words of other people in song. The result however will be more like that scene in Enchanted. Where They just burst into song and (nearly) anyone around them feel compelled to join in for a grand musical ensemble number.

The other curse, cast at the same time, was meant to be a red shoes thing. The other person must dance with everyone they encounter. The intent, again, was to turn the population of the school and surroundings against them as they force random strangers to tango waltz and foxtrot. The result however... unplanned dance flash mobs.

Now either alone would be bad enough. But we were thinking as a player plot maybe the spell merged and spread. So basically people can plot and run huge elaborate music/dance numbers. Up to each player if the music starts out diegetic or nondiegetic, and how each song is chosen. They can also choose if they get hit by one or both, or if they get caught up in someone else's one or the other or both.

You probably want to put content limits on the songs for ratings and linked videos for ratings and epilepsy warnings, but other than that, I think this could lend itself to a lot of creativity and fun.

So wanted to toss this here as an idea. If it wouldn't work as a player plot, that's fine, the two might just do it to each other for a joint thread then. But as I was typing up the idea to share, the thought of letting other people play along got under my skin.

Hope that if nothing else, you at least enjoyed reading the idea and got some giggles out of thinking of certain characters being forced to sing and dance - possibly about their inner most drama!
